Nik Maziah Nik Mustapha, 44, a Malaysian, was appointed as the Acting Head, Governance, Assurance & Compliance of Sime Darby Plantation Berhad on 1 March 2018. She was then designated as the Acting Chief Internal Auditor and Chief Internal Auditor on 23 April 2018 and 1 July 2018, respectively. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the Group’s governance, assurance and compliance functions in leading and advising on best practices in governance and compliance to safeguard the organisational integrity. For the assurance function, her responsibilities include directing, supervising, coordinating and controlling our Group’s in-house internal audit and advisory activities to ensure that the strategic directions of the independent assurance function are consistently achieved.

She began her career as an audit associate with Arthur Andersen & Co in Malaysia and had since accumulated over 21 years’ experience in internal and external audit, credit management and financial accounting in a wide range of industries including banking, airline, property and plantation. She joined Golden Hope Plantations Berhad in 2006 as the Internal Audit Manager and moved up the ranks to her current position after successfully helmed the corporate assurance function in Property and Plantation Divisions of the Sime Darby Berhad Group from 2012 and 2015, respectively.

She is a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and a chartered member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia. She is also a Certified Internal Auditor and has a Certification in Control Self-Assessment from the Institute of Internal Auditors Inc, United States of America. She holds a Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) degree from the Universiti Utara Malaysia.
