WoW Wins 'Most Innovative Approach to Driving Culture Change' Award

Sime Darby Plantation’s internally developed programme, War on Waste (WoW), bagged the “Most Innovative Approach to Driving Culture Change” award at the OPEX Business Transformation World Summit 2019 in Orlando, USA. The summit was held from 21 to 25 January.

The award winner selection process involved an hour of face-to-face interview with judges from around the world with various areas of expertise. SDP beat two other finalists for the category - US based Hartford Healthcare and Nielsen.

The idea for WoW was mooted and later launched by EDCMD Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh (then the President and Group Chief Executive of Sime Darby Berhad) in December 2015. It was aimed at driving culture transformation by engaging the hearts and minds of all employees. Each employee is empowered to make bottom line impact through the intensification of waste elimination efforts using common sense approach.

The programme aims to achieve 80% Operating Unit’s (OU) participation rate by 2020. The fourth edition of War on Waste (WoW 4.0), to be launched this FY2019, will see the introduction of the “Clone Protocol” framework - a platform to enhance project replication initiative.

Congratulations to the Operational Excellence team on the achievement and to all OUs that participated in the WoW programme.
