Sime Darby Plantation Wins Big at Sustainable Business Awards Malaysia 2018

Sime Darby Plantation’s pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) specifically in meeting the expectations of the wide range of stakeholders in an environmentally, socially and economically responsible manner was recognised with five awards at the inaugural Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) Malaysia which was held on 29 January 2019.
 
Emerging as one of the biggest winners of the evening, Sime Darby Plantation  took home the awards for Strategy and Sustainability Management, Best Land Use and Biodiversity, Best Sustainability in the Community, Overall Chain Management and the Overall Winner.
 
Receiving the awards from the Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Malaysia, Yeo Bee Yin, on behalf of the company were our Deputy to Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer, Upstream, Mohamad Helmy Othman Basha and Head of Operational Excellence, Group Sustainability & Quality Management, Azman Shah Mohamed Noor.
 
The SBA is the only platform in the region that undertakes a rigorous assessment to recognise and award companies for their sustainability efforts across 12 categories. Having been held in Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore over the past seven years, the SBA is intended to become a regional platform to share good sustainability practices across companies in South East Asia and demonstrate how sustainable business benefits companies, the environment and all stakeholders.
