Sime Darby Plantation is the plantation and agri-business arm of the Sime Darby Group, representing one of the five core Divisions of the Group. The Division is involved in oil palm, rubber and sugarcane cultivation, plantation management, downstream activities, cattle rearing, agribusiness and food, as well as Research & Development (R&D).
The merger of Sime Darby Berhad, Golden Hope Plantations Berhad and Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad (completed on 27 November 2007) established Sime Darby Plantation as one of the world’s largest palm oil producers. Today, Sime Darby Plantation produces approximately 2.4 million tonnes or 4% of the world’s annual crude palm oil (CPO) output of which about 2.2 million tonnes are Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO).

The Division spans across Peninsular Malaysia as well as Sabah and Sarawak; Kalimantan, Sumatera and Sulawesi in Indonesia; Liberia; Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. Currently, the company has a total land bank of approximately 1 million hectares, of which more than 600,000 ha are planted with oil palm, 11,000 ha with rubber, 5,000 ha with sugar cane and 9,000 ha of grazing pastures.

Our Downstream Operation is present in 16 countries namely Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, China, Germany, United Kingdom, South Africa, Netherlands, United States of America, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. Sime Darby Plantation is involved in the manufacturing and distribution of oils and fats products, oleochemicals and palm oil-based biodiesel.
The company’s upstream activities adhere strictly to industry-proven best practices. In keeping with the aspiration of Developing Sustainable Futures, we make a conscious and concerted effort towards conservation and protection of the environment, rehabilitation of forests, protection of wildlife and promotion of the well-being of communities within and around our operations. .

The Company also invests heavily in R&D and is the first in the world to successfully sequence, assemble and annotate the oil palm genome.
