Social Assessment
Sime Darby Plantation has carried out social impact assessments at several of its SOUs in a bid to gauge the impact of the company’s operations on the surrounding communities, including plantation workers, smallholders and their dependants. Variables of the assessment may include, but are not necessarily limited to, population, economic, social and health characteristics, community and institutional structures. The social assessment will also enable the company to determine its current compliance towards sustainable palm oil production.
