Sime Darby Bioganic Sdn Bhd was established in 2002 to venture into the nutraceutical industry, leveraging on the company’s palm oil business and taking advantage of the nutritional benefits of palm oil.
Sime Darby Bioganic Sdn Bhd is mainly involved in the manufacturing of Gold Tri.E – a tocotrienol-rich palm oil extract. Tocotrienol is a type of vitamin E which is 40 to 60 times more potent as anti-oxidant than tocopherol – the regular type of vitamin E that are found in nuts, leafy green vegetables and fortified cereals.
Research shows that tocotrienol is highly beneficial in the prevention of cardiovascular conditions, cancer, skin-related conditions and many other degenerative diseases.
Gold Tri.E tocotrienol is used in the dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, functional foods and cosmeceuticals. It is available in liquid and powder forms. The powdered tocotrienol is more versatile for use in dry mixes such as dairy and other powdered products.
Sime Darby Bioganic Sdn Bhd recently embarked on using nanotechnology to make the liquid tocotrienol water-soluble and ready for use in beverages and also enhance its performance in cosmetics and personal care products.
In 2004, Sime Darby Bioganic Sdn Bhd launched Tri. E, the tocotrienol dietary supplement for consumers.
