Land Management
Sime Darby Plantation formulated its plantation development to include the following criteria:
- Retaining natural forest cover on hill slopes of more than 25º. The forest cover serves as reserves for natural enemies of oil palm pests apart from conserving flora and fauna of natural importance and interest.
- Maintaining riparian reserves to minimise soil run-off. Riparian reserves also serves as a filtration system to preserve the quality of water entering the rivers.
- Conducting land development in phases by incorporating the planting of legume covers, construction of retention ponds, terraces and silt traps.
