Boundary Disputes
- In the event of a dispute with communities or stakeholders neighboring the estates or during land surveying, an initial negotiation will be held between the respective estate management and the affected parties.
- Upon failure of this negotiation, the respective estate management will consult the Land Management Department at the Head Office.
- The Land Management Department will visually (using maps) counter-check the areas in dispute.
- A negotiation process involving the respective estate’s management, the Land Management Department, respective Zone Head and the third party/parties will follow suit.
- Licensed surveyors will be engaged to survey the areas in dispute.
- In the event of negotiation failure, the matter will be referred to the local authorities namely the District Land Office and the Survey Department. The respective estate management will present the data/information gathered by the licensed surveyor to support its case.
- Legal proceedings will follow suit upon any failure of the above procedures. A negotiation process can still be initiated at this juncture for an out-of-court settlement.
